An excellent article for deconstructing the many "traditions" in primary classroom that are biased against both first nations students, and students of other cultures, predominantly those with strong oral traditions and observational learning. It makes a strong case for analysing and questioning our own classroom traditions with a view to making them more welcoming to students from diverse backgrounds. A must read for increasing the cultural friendliness of our classrooms.

For those who believe our Canadian multi-cultural society is without cultural bias this is a sobering study. It is useful as a backgrounder however in understanding where we are so we can move forward as a nation who embraces and values all of our citizens.
